I lived there from December 2001 to February 2002 at Block 16, and again from November 2004 to May 2005 at Block 13A. I had good impression of the place because it is decent and reasonably priced. One good thing about the place is that it has seaviews of the East Lamma Channel and a relatively quieter neighborhood and nice children facilities make it good choice for families.
Flat sizes vary from 600 sq feet to 1200 sq feet. It has access to two commercial complexes with a supermarket, ATM booths, convenience shop and a dozen other shops within the estate. It also has playground facilities for basketball, football, table tennis, swimming pools, gym and tennis. The Horizon Club, located next to my place at Block 13A provides facilities for reading, dining and physical fitness. It is also near to a popular furniture shop in Hong Kong.
Transportation facilities is fairly accessible, as in all of Hong Kong in general. Buses have routes going to Causeway Bay, Aberdeen, Chi Fu, Wan Chai, Shau Kei Wan, Admiralty, Central in Hong Kong island and Cheung Sha Wan in Kowloon. Schools nearby include the Precious Blood Primary School, Canadian International School and Singapore International School.
My problem with the area is basically the travel time from home to office. The Aberdeen Tunnel nearby is often congested starting 8 o'clock in the morning. Also the lack of overnight buses at night time made me take the cab from overtime work. There was a talk of having an MTR line along the Southern District of Hong Kong and South Horizons is identified as one of the stations. If the plan pushes through, it will be a big relief for weary morning travelers.
Another problem I had with the area is that during winter season, the noise of foghorns of ships passing through the area is sometimes unbearable especially for people who live closest to the sea as foggy conditions prompt such actions to happen.
