The Collegiate Immaculate
The Collegiate Immaculate (TCI) is the official student publication of the University of the Immaculate Conception.
It serves as the voice of students and school administration to enhance school-student relationships.
It regularly presents itself a healthy dose of news, features and literary articles. There are about three to four issues released within the whole school year (June to March). Popular editors in the past include Charles Pansoy and Maricar Ramos.
With a little or no experience in journalism (I was the Editor-in-Chief of The Crossroads, our high school newsletter), I joined The Collegiate Immaculate during my last year in the University as Layout Artist who also functions as feature, news and sports writer.
TCI has been stereotyped as the vehicle of the University to promote and vindicate itself especially during the years when the College faculty staged a labor protest for alleged illegal termination of fellow employees. It was accused of being pro-administration especially when it delayed its membership of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP).
Thus the Supreme Student Government launched its "pro student" publication called The Forum. With its establishment, a healthy competition ensued within the bounds of the University's student journalists and news writing has became more transparent. TCI is now a CEGP member.
